Cape Town Workshops, 5 to 6 and 18 to 19 of January 2018...
Dear friends and students, it is a big pleasure to me announce that for first time I will be teaching in Cape Town.
CLASS SCHEDULE (program on 18 to 19 january will be announce soon)
Friday 5 January (MILONGA)
Milonga: no more running away, time to hit the dance floor!
For those who feel shaky as soon as the first note of a milonga fills the air. From basic milonga elements to traspié. We will divide the information in two lessons to give you enough time to practice every exercise and understand the concepts. This will go from milonga lisa on the first lesson to milonga traspié in the second one. Mario will include from the basic movement that cannot be missed in your milonga repertoire, to more complex combinations in order to keep your improvisation sharp.
6:30pm-8:00pm Milonga Lisa
8:15pm-9:45pm Milonga Traspié
Saturday 6 January (TANGO)
The first class will be on musicality and we will work the different rhythmic possibilities. What energy do the orchestras offer us, and what characteristics can we find in each one? How can understanding rhythm completely change our movements?
The second class will be on twists, tornadoes, swirls, spins! What happens in that moment between starting a turn and finishing it to go walking again? That enigma, that complex riddle, that moment where the feet go here and there, where the axis passes by.
From how to control the movement, we will work the rotation, and use it as starting point to understand how to do it from the parallel system, or cross and how to add sacadas without the danger of treading on the follower, working out the details from each role's perspective.
2:45pm-4:15pm Giros, Pivots and Rotation
All sessions will be hosted at Nautique Marketing offices, Old Castle Breweries, 6 Beach Road, Woodstock, Cape Town
